Deploying GigaVUE Cloud Suite for VMware NSX-T 3.1.2 using V Series (5.12)

Introduction

Large enterprises usually tend to deploy multiple security appliances/solutions to effectively execute the defense-in-depth security model. This will lead to varied traffic of interest which requires installation of more taps. This becomes more complicated with adoption of cloud and SDDC solutions in such security implementations. Also, migrating to virtual workloads exacerbates the problem since the security and monitoring tools cannot get a whiff of the traffic between the virtual workloads that reside on the same host. In such cases, Gigamon Cloud Suite provides pervasive visibility and also, helps in segmenting and optimizing the traffic before being fed to the varied tools. This saves valuable resources and compute cycles on the tools that results in better performance and longer operational lifecycle of the tool. The following Gigamon Validated Design (GVD) illustrates deploying one such Cloud Suite solution on VMware NSX-T to support multiple tools.

Design Overview

This GVD covers deployment of Gigamon Cloud Suite in a VMware NSX-T environment (version 3.1.2). All tools discussed in this GVD are deployed as virtual instances on the same vCenter, however they can be located anywhere in the enterprise network.

• Filter all traffic, dedup, and forward to NDR
• Filter TCP traffic
  • Filter web traffic, dedup, and forward to APM
  • Filter SMTP/FTP traffic, dedup, and forward to DLP
