Chassis Cooling
The fans on the GigaVUE-HCT run at 100% of their maximum speed on power-up, then drop to approximately 40% during normal operations. The fans are deployed in 2+1 redundancy mode, meaning that a single fan can fail, and immediately, the remaining fans will run at full speed to help the chassis maintain the appropriate cooling temperature at 40ºC ambient. They are not hot-swappable.
Note: Avoid hot-plugging/unplugging the FAN tray in the live GigaVUE-HCT chassis.
The temperatures of five components: inlet, Host CPU, switch ASIC, optics, and GigaSMART (If SMT-HC1-S module is installed and operational) are monitored.
An SNMP trap is sent when a component reaches the threshold for warning, alert, or critical temperature conditions. Refer to the following table for the temperatures at which the warning, alert, and critical traps are sent.
