Chassis Cooling
The fans on the GigaVUE-HCT run at 100% of their maximum speed on power-up, then drop to approximately 40% during normal operations. The fans are deployed in 2+1 redundancy mode, meaning that a single fan can fail, and immediately, the remaining fans will then run at full speed to help the chassis maintain the appropriate cooling temperature at 40ºC ambient. They are not hot-swappable.
Note: Avoid hot-plugging/unplugging the FAN tray in the live GigaVUE-HCT chassis.
The temperatures of five components: inlet, Host CPU, switch ASIC, optics, and GigaSMART (If SMT-HC1-S module is installed and operational) are monitored.
An SNMP trap is sent when a component reaches the threshold for warning, alert, or critical temperature conditions. Refer to Table 1: Component Temperature Thresholds and Actions for the temperatures at which the warning, alert, and critical traps are sent.
