Cooling Fans

This describes the procedure to install and remove the Cooling Fan.

Removing the Cooling Fan

• Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.

• Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.

• Remove the air shroud.

• Remove the internal riser.

• Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.

• Move the cables out of the way to access the cooling fan cable connector on the system board.

Follow the below steps to remove the Cooling Fan:

1. Press the tabs on the side of the cable connector to disconnect the cable from the connector on the system board.

Note:  Ensure that you disconnect the fan 1 cable from the power interposer board. Ensure that you note the routing of the cables as you remove them from the system board.

2. Lift the fan out holding the blue touch point.

Installing Cooling Fan

• Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
• Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
• Remove the air shroud.
• Remove the internal riser.
• Remove the power cable.
• Move the cables out of the way to access the cooling fan cable connector on the system board.

Follow the below steps to install the Cooling Fan:

1. Holding the blue touch point, place the cooling fan into the cooling fan cage.

2. Route the cooling fan cable and connect it to the connector on the system board.

After installing the Cooling Fan ensure the following:

1. Install the internal riser.

2. Connect the power cable.

3. Ensure all the cables are routed correctly.

4. Install the air shroud.

5. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
