Module Removal and Replacement Procedure (Hot Removal)
Use the following procedure to remove a module from the GigaVUE‑HC1-Plus node with the power on.
Important: Hot removal of modules without following the listed steps can cause system instability and require a reboot.
Before starting, make sure you are wearing an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap.
Replacing a Module with the Same Type of Module
| 1. | Shut down the module to prepare for removal with the following CLI command: | 
(config) # card slot <slot id> down
| 2. | Slide the module out of the chassis and store it in a static-safe location. | 
| 3. | Insert the new module of the same type. | 
Replacing a Module with a Different Type of Module
| 1. | Remove all packet distribution configurations related to the module using the following CLI command: | 
(config) # no card slot <slot ID>
| 2. | Slide the module out of the chassis and store it in a static-safe location. | 
| 3. | Insert the new module of a different type. | 
| 4. | Issue the following CLI command to make the card available for configuration: | 
(config) # card slot <slot ID>
