Upgrading PLDs

Use the pld CLI command to perform an upgrade of programmable logic devices (PLDs) on GigaVUE-HC3 nodes. These devices include field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The following components have an FPGA:

PRT-HC3-X24 module
PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module
PRT-HC3-C16 module
SMT-HC3-C05 module
BPS-HC3-C25F2G module
BPS-HC3-Q35C2G module
BPS-HC3-C35C2G module
control card (also referred to as the main board)

FPGA images are bundled with the software image and upgraded with the software image upgrade, however, the pld command provides the ability to upgrade each FPGA individually.

After a PLD upgrade, the node requires a hard reboot.

Issue the show pld command to display the PLDs that need to be upgraded, then only upgrade those. Refer to the following example for CCv1:

(config) # show pld
Box ID: 1
Slot HW Type Cur Rev Need Upgrade
------------------------------------------------
cc1 HC3-Main-Board 2017/02/03:6 no

3 SMT-HC3-C05 2017/02/03:5 no
4 PRT-HC3-X24 2017/01/23:5 no
